Inner Critic on Repeat
Did the mental thrashing make me a better person? Uh… nope. Made me shrink. Made me dismiss me. Made me not notice my gifts, talents, skills, and treasures learned from the mistakes. What an insane power!
The dysmorphia of our own minds is lethal. While I was trapped there, my joy and brilliance was dead.
Disruption.
Disruptions knock the train off the rails. As we stand next to the tracks, looking at the broken pieces, we have the opportunity to choose how to move forward and whether it serves us well to rebuild the train or to build a shiny new vehicle. Freedom from Festering
What if… we look at forgiveness as the understanding that while another made hurtful mistakes, he did his best based on his lifetime of choices and circumstances? We each are continually progressing through life. There is no end goal; this is an infinite game.
How can you free your mind from festering?
Mine to Love, Not to Keep
As I ran down the sidewalk holding the bicycle seat as my daughter learned to ride, I was reluctant to let go. If I let go, she might fall. She might get hurt. She might hit her head. Did I struggle to release my grip? Yep. However, I knew she couldn’t succeed until I did.
Let go of the bike, but not the Love. Then, appreciate her journey from alongside her.
