Disruptions knock the train off the rails. As we stand next to the tracks, looking at the broken pieces, we have the opportunity to choose how to move forward and whether it serves us well to rebuild the train or to build a shiny new vehicle. And, we have the opportunity to re-evaluate the destination. 

What is our destination? 

If it’s not humanity’s highest potential serving Life’s greater purpose, then what is it? 

Think seriously about this answer. Focus like your life depends on it. 

We can do better. 

Listen better. Actively listen to the words and non-verbals of others. With your heart and soul, listen with curiosity to another’s experiences. Set aside your own experiences as you listen to theirs. Pick them back up when you understand how they are woven together. Spoiler alert: our actions, beliefs, thoughts and expectations affect each other. There’s not an isolated place where you can remain unaffected in this disruption. Life has already changed.

Connect better. Share honestly. This is not a time to wear the protective armor of disinterest. Flip up that mask and look around. Check out Brene Brown’s work on Vulnerability. Vulnerability is a strength as we connect to our own hearts and to others. Crystal clarity: Vulnerability is not the practice of being a doormat; it’s the practice of connecting knowing there is no perfection in humanity, and we all deal with our issues, so there’s no reason for a false grandiosity.

Do Better.  With awareness and intention, learn, learn, learn. We are all brilliant in some ways, and novices in certain areas. As we learn better, we can do better.

What can you learn today?

Love better. Evaluate every thought, action and belief. If it’s not rooted in the unshakeable, solid, woven through time and space by a thread of divinity kind of love, then don’t do it or say it. Re-evaluate. If we notice the brilliance of Love infusing our intentions, then we’re on the right path.

How does Love permeate your being today?

The essence of who we are holds our answers. How can the essence of our souls infuse our gifts, talents, skills and interests? We are each perfectly equipped to serve Life’s highest purpose.

Using this disruption to choose differently can bless our homes, our families, our neighborhoods, our communities and humanity.
